Voting Surprise

I went to my assigned voting site this evening after work fully expecting to wait in line for about a gazillion hours. To my surprise, I didn't have to wait in line at all. There were so few people about that only the "Vote Here" signs kept me from thinking I was in the wrong place. While I admit that I was pleased to not have to spend the next couple of seasons waiting in line, I'm still wondering where did everybody go? I hope this doesn't mean that people weren't voting! Maybe I just hit some voting improbability vortex or something.

There was actually a valid reason for the extended pause in my blogging this time. John and I had to go spend several days in Alabama to take care of his mother who had surgery last week. She lives in a tiny town that's not exactly abundant in wireless connections. However, we did see a goat crossing the road (not quite as exciting as the pig in the road that Olivia and I saw there last year, but still noteworthy), many dead armadillos (still haven't seen one of those guys who still has the ability to walk), and some gorgeous magnolias. I also discovered that Uncle Redd's has the most fabulous iced tea known to man! I'm super excited now for the third annual Alabama or Bust trip that Olivia and I take each June. John's mom is recovering wonderfully well, by the way.

Other than that, it's just been the madness of dealing with work after being away for a week, PTA meetings coming up (at my school and Grace's) and John's upcoming trip to Atlanta. This is always such a nutty time of year. Have I mentioned lately that the kids at school are going nuts between Spring Fever and EOG stress???? Holy cow! That place is a loony bin, but that's why I love it so. :D
