If you search google for "simple Christmas," all sorts of results pop up with words like cheap, miserly, frugal, etc. Why is the expectation that I would only desire a simple Christmas if I was broke or thrifty??? Can't I want a simple Christmas just because I'm not a materialistic, present-monger who buys into rampant commercialism and greed? The whole thing makes me feel icky.
I hope that everyone is having a simple, enjoyable Christmas season if you're broke or not. ;)

I'm right there with you. Is it just me, or have stores been selling the same ugly sweaters and gazillion-piece tool sets for Christmas for the past 30 years? I can't believe people are still buying all that stuff. I second your vote for a simple holiday.
